What others Are Saying About Christ Above Culture

"Christ Above Culture provides us with a very timely word on how we, as followers of Jesus Christ, should approach the racial issues that confront our nation, communities, and churches.  Dr. Sherard Burns' Biblical blueprint, shares his experience, study, and commitment to Christ with clear and practical application as we live and impact our culture as Kingdom citizens."

Erik D. Cummings, Lead Pastor - New Life Church of Carol City and state

How can something be reconciled that was never together to begin with? The conversation has intensified lately concerning the ongoing exclusion towards brothers and sisters of different colors of skin. Finally a book comes along that is balanced for the sake of the Scriptures, instead of being balanced for the sake of being balanced. Pastor Sherard K Burns is a refreshing and much needed voice amongst a plethora of voices who that haven't been able to produce much fruit in regards to legit racial harmony. Pastor Sherard gives an easy to understand, yet comprehensive view on how we can truly be united under the Gospel of Jesus Christ, without compromising or dismissing the unique ways we have been created. Due to Pastor Sherard's life experiences and extensive theological training, his voice is one of both deep conviction, transparency and authenticity. I recommend his book and him personally as an asset to the church, and I believe God will use Pastor Sherard to help the church heal from deep wounds which defame the Glory of God.

"This book courageously examines several social ills that have plague our great nation since its founding. Burn's challenges the Church of Christ to lead on these issues. In the "land of the free", Christ is the only solution and means of true reconciliation, both vertically and horizontally."

~Patrick Coats, Senior Pastor - Kingdom Covenant in Homestead FL.

Our church and community was recently host and hear Dr Sherard Burns on the much-needed topic of ‘Racial Harmony and the Church’.  God has gifted Dr Burns with a scholar’s mind and a pastor’s heart.  We all have opinions on the subject, but it is hard to argue with the Gospel.  I am thankful to call him my friend and brother in Christ.  He stretches folks from all sides and brings clarity to complex definitions and issues.  Although he is a scholar, he is not isolated in theory.  My friend Sherard Burns is a living, daily example of what it means to take up your cross daily and follow Christ.    Hear him with an open heart and open Bible and you and your community will not stay the same.

" 'Christ Above Culture' is the best work I’ve read about pursuing racial harmony in the Church. In it, Sherard Burns provides a solid theological framework for understanding who we are in Christ. Regardless of your ethnicity, this book will forever change the way you think about culture. This book is a "must read" for every Christian!"

"Sherard Burns has truly blessed the church in writing Christ Above Culture.  Launching headlong into one of the most divisive and charged issues of our day, he displays the glorious reversal of Babel in a Gospel-centered vision for racial harmony in the church.  Sherard walks through a careful analysis of the issues surrounding exclusion in our society before taking us straight to the Bible to establish a proper theological foundation for seeing race through God’s eyes.  I praise God for Sherard Burns’ boldness and love as he calls for and models the beauty of racial harmony in the church!"
